Sale alert – ending tonight (Sunday), Nordstrom is having an awesome buy 2 mascaras get 1 free deal where you can mix and match pretty much any of the popular brands! Lancome also has a gift with purchase for orders over $45, so if you’re a fan of their mascaras, this is a great way to take advantage of both promos.
This is a very simple outfit, but I like that the structured peplum adds some waist-defining shape, while the smocked linen and wicker accessories add summertime texture! For a different vibe, I’d change up the bottoms with either white chino shorts, olive skinny jeans, or a pair of cigarette trousers for a dressier look.
Woven Mules
Per requests, I’ve been trying to share a lot more outfits lately with flat shoes! Slip on mules have been a go-to option and I especially like that they’re a little more breathable in warm weather. Mine here by Schutz are sold out, but after much searching, I was able to find a very similar option that I tried on for fit and comfort. The Vince Camuto ones are nice quality, and look very similar on the feet in a flattering neutral shade and elongating toe shape without being too pointy. Sizing runs TTS – I am usually between a 5 and 5.5 and tried on both, and preferred the 5.5 for more room around the opening area (the sz 5 was snug on my foot around the mule opening).
Peplum top
I really adore this top and was pleasantly surprised by the price! Note it’s a thick linen-cotton blend fabric which I was personally drawn to, and the thickness is what helps the peplum part hold its flared structure and makes it look more fashion forward in my opinion. It’s not a soft against the skin fabric, however I definitely don’t find it to be as rough and uncomfortable as the customer reviews mentioned (otherwise I wouldn’t be recommending it)! I’ve worn it half a dozen times already and the fabric doesn’t bother me, but if you’re looking for a soft tee shirt-like fabric, this top isn’t for you.
Fit wise, it runs a little small and short which works well for petites! I thought I got an XS, but just realized it’s actually a S and is a comfortable fit on me (an XS would be more shrunken fit). The smocked bodice has a lot of stretch, and there are two hidden buttons on each shoulder strap to adjust the strap length. In addition to my pairing suggestions above I have also worn this top with lightweight wide leg pants as well as a flowy skirt to dress it up further!
Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post. PS – If you’re shopping the Anniversary Sale, there’s been a couple of restocks and helpful customer reviews rolling in! You can see all of my Nsale reviews here for women, men & baby and I posted a few additional looks under InstaShop as well.
