From February 25 to February 29, the stage at Queensland Performing Arts Centre will be graced by a beautiful statue who stands on a hill above the city and weeps for the suffering he sees below. When he’s befriended by a feisty streetwise swallow, the polar opposites work together to perform acts of kindness that warm the cold winter. With leaps of poetic beauty, sly humour and sharp social commentary, this inventive and modern twist on the classic tale will inspire and move.

This magical story of love and sacrifice will unfold to a specially commissioned score by Christopher Gordon – the renowned composer of film scores, such as Mao’s Last Dancer and Master and Commander. An all-star line-up of Australian creative collaborators will also be in full swing including the award-winning artist and theatre director Kim Carpenter, whose vibrant set and costume designs will animate the golden world.
