Say what you will about his films (some of which are completely over the top), but director Roland Emmerich knows how to make an epic movie. We’re talking about the guy who helmed “Independence Day,” “The Day After Tomorrow,” “The Patriot,” “2012,” and “White House Down.” So, even though “Midway” might not have been a highly-anticipated sequel based on a comic book series, Emmerich delivered yet another action blockbuster that surprised folks last year.
