The Walking Dead Star Joins Marvel’s Black Panther

The Walking Dead Star Joins Marvel’s Black Panther
If you thought this year’s San Diego Comic-Con was all about DC movies, then think again. Marvel have not only confirmed that Brie Larson’s playing Captain Marvel, but we’ve learned about an new addition to the ‘Black Panther’ cast too.

It’s been revealed that ‘The Walking Dead’ star Danai Gurira has joined the ever-expanding cast for the Rayn Coogler film set in kingdom of Wakanda. The popular, sword-wielding star of the AMC zombie series bolsters an already strong group of actors, including the film’s title character played by Chadwick Boseman, and Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan who were confirmed at this weekend’s SDCC.
Kevin Fiege was on hand at the event to shed some light on the cast for the upcoming movie, with Gurira set to play the role of Okoye.
While ‘Black Panther’ fans will be excited to see Gurira added to the roster, there will be some that worry about her continued role in ‘The Walking Dead’. Often when actors transition into film from television, they leave behind their small-screen roles in pursuit of the bright lights of Hollywood. So could this mean that the hard-as-nail, fearless Michonne be about to meet her maker in season seven of the hit show?
The future film also saw a new official logo unveiled in front of fans, during a hugely anticipated panel that took place in Hall H.
Comic-Con lit up as director Coogler and the confirmed cast (so far) were introduced and all appeared together on stage for the first time, and the hype for the movie was evident. So far we’ve only see Boseman in cinematic action with his explosive introduction earlier this year in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ where he arguably stole the show alongside fellow newbie Tom Holland as Spider-Man.
